Mountain Walks

Mountain Walks

Elmwood walks are for those who share a common interest in mountain walking and are run as a group of friends, coming at our own risk, to enjoy together areas such as the mountains of the Lake District and North Wales. People can bring along relatives, friends or work colleagues when they wish to. Parents can bring children who are up to, and equipped for, walking in the mountains.

Minimum requirements are: a reasonable level of fitness to go up and down steep slopes, a pair of boots particularly for ankle support and grip, appropriate clothing for hill walking, and effective wind and waterproof clothing to keep warm and safe in bad weather.

Winter walks are just for those who are experienced and well equipped for the severe conditions encountered. In the period April to October we try to provide 2 walks: a more challenging walk from 6-12 miles over terrain that may involve grade 1 scrambling, and a shorter walk of 4-8 miles that can be taken at a slower pace.

We try to organise a walk approximately once every 3 weeks on a Saturday and leave early as car parks tend to fill up early. We usually try to find a local café for coffee and cake before travelling home, arriving between 5 and 7pm.
